Orrell Battersby | Newlife Pacific Pines

About

The Northern Gold Coast area has been identified as the fastest growing region in Australia. In fact the Northern Growth Corridor is expected to have over 127,500 residents, almost the size of Cairns within 10 years. This area currently has the highest number of 0 to 5 year old children in the Gold Coast region earning the area the colloquial name of ‘Nappy Valley’.

“We love Pac Pines”

My wife Christine and I moved into the Pacific Pines area just a few months ago. We agree with the very public statement we saw that was proudly displayed in the rear window of a car, it said “We Love Pacific Pines.”

How can I get hold of one of those stickers? Call me old fashioned, call me a romantic, but I really do believe in love at first sight. Christine and I belong to a group of ordinary folks who first ‘caught sight’ of Pac Pines four years ago. – I’d better explain who ‘we’ are.

We are a group of people who range in age from a babe in arms just a couple of days old, all the way up to the grand age of ninety plus year olds. When our mob gets together, which is often, we have over thirty four different birth nationalities represented. Collectively, we are known as Newlife Uniting Church, Robina.

Four years ago we believe God gave us the idea of establishing a new church campus somewhere on the Northern Gold Coast. Idea, vision, dream, image or mental picture, whatever you want to call it, it was large in scale but short on details.

We believed that God had a plan for us to establish a new church campus on the north side, but, we didn’t know where exactly. So, we started to look around. I suppose it was a bit like speed-dating. We went out on a number of dates, we explored all over the Gold Coast’s northern side, and everywhere we went we found so much beauty, potential and opportunity, and, like speed dating (as I imagine it, – no personal experience), there was much to choose from.

Thank God we didn’t have to choose. You see, once we found Jubilee Primary School we knew that this was the place that God had picked out for us to start a new church campus.

This Sunday that first idea becomes a reality! Newlife Uniting Church, Pacific Pines officially begins this Sunday the 9th October at 9:30 am. Starting on this date we will be one church, – ‘Newlife Uniting’, but on two campuses, – ‘Robina and Pacific Pines.’ We will be meeting here at Jubilee Primary School in your new Multi Purpose Hall.

We thank God in all of our prayers for this school, its Principal, its Staff, the Covenant Churches and all the families that come together to form this wonderful community.

We would like to take this opportunity to give you and your family a personal invitation to come along this, or any other, Sunday; we would love to meet you.

Grace and Peace,
Rev. Orrell Battersby, Campus Minister, Newlife, Pacific Pines
